E-Challan System Now Active for KMC Officials in Karachi

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has officially implemented the E-Challan System, issuing strict directives to all officers and staff. The system aims to enforce traffic laws and ensure accountability among government employees.

Under the new rules, KMC officials and employees must personally pay any traffic fines. Staff using official KMC vehicles will also be responsible for settling any e-challans issued during their duty. The move is part of the city’s broader efforts to improve traffic discipline and public safety.

Officials are now required to wear seat belts while driving and must avoid using mobile phones or tinted windows in government vehicles. Overspeeding in official cars has been strictly banned, and action will be taken against any officer found violating rules. Additionally, tampering with number plates is prohibited and could result in disciplinary measures.

The E-Challan System also emphasizes correct route usage for KMC vehicles. All drivers must follow designated routes, and wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers is now mandatory for staff. These measures are in line with directives issued by the Sindh government, aimed at modernizing enforcement and promoting road safety.

Officials said the introduction of the E-Challan System will not only monitor traffic compliance but also set an example for citizens, reflecting the government’s commitment to transparency and law enforcement. The system will track violations electronically, reducing manual errors and ensuring accountability across KMC departments.

KMC authorities have urged all employees to strictly adhere to these rules to avoid penalties and maintain professional standards. The city administration believes that disciplined conduct by officials will help improve overall traffic management and public trust in government institutions.
