Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab promises development in Azizabad after a young girl raised concerns about the condition of local streets.
During the inauguration of Lal Qila Park in Azizabad, a girl named Ayesha approached the mayor. She praised the park but requested attention for the streets in her neighbourhood. Mayor Wahab responded positively and promised development for the areaโs roads.
The mayor highlighted that Azizabadโs playground had previously been filled with dirt. With the opening of Lal Qila Park, a total of five parks are now available for public use in the area. These parks feature play areas, green belts, and facilities designed for children.
Murtaza Wahab also emphasized that the parks include walking tracks suitable for both youth and the elderly. He remarked that while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had fulfilled its promise to the public, the maintenance and care of these parks now rest with the citizens of Karachi.
The mayor encouraged children to protect the park from theft and urged residents to cooperate with the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). He stated that this year would focus on development for the city, and reiterated that he promises development will continue across Karachi, starting with Azizabad.
Residents welcomed the announcement, expressing hope that the streets and public spaces would receive long-awaited attention. The initiative aims to improve living standards and provide safe, clean, and modern facilities for children and families.
Mayor Wahab concluded by noting that community support is crucial for sustaining these development projects, ensuring that Karachi continues to grow as a well-planned and citizen-friendly city.
