Karachi police have arrested two alleged child rapists after a child identified them during a special operation. The arrests were confirmed by SP Investigation East, Usman Sadozai.
The suspects, Imran and Waqas Khan, were active in multiple districts, including Malir, Korangi, East, and South Karachi. Imran, who runs a puncture repair stall in Mehmoodabad, is a resident of Manzoor Colony.
Between 2020 and 2025, seven cases of child sexual abuse were reported across Karachi. All victims were boys aged 12 to 13. DNA evidence confirmed that the same person was involved in all cases, raising alarm among investigators.
SP Sadozai revealed that Imran confessed to sexually assaulting dozens of children over the past six years. He reportedly lured victims by offering motorcycle rides and took them to deserted areas near Malir Nadi. In one case, more than one perpetrator was involved.
Forensic evidence matched the suspects’ DNA in all seven registered cases. Three victims identified Imran, while one child identified both Imran and his accomplice Waqas Khan. Police said in one incident, the suspects attempted to take a child to Surjani Town but fled after the victim raised an alarm.
The operation was carried out by a special investigation team formed on January 6 under the supervision of DIG CIA Muqaddas Haider. The team, led by East Investigation, arrested the child rapists within 11 days. Senior officers from Malir, Korangi, and South Karachi also participated in the operation.
Further investigations are ongoing to identify any additional victims and accomplices. Authorities urge citizens to report any suspicious activity involving children immediately.
This case follows last year’s arrest of Shabbir Tanoli, a serial child rapist, who confessed to sexually assaulting over 100 children in Karachi. Tanoli, a juice vendor, was arrested from Qayyumabad and produced before a judicial magistrate, where he admitted to the crimes under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Authorities emphasize that such operations are critical to protecting children and bringing perpetrators to justice.
