Karachi Police launched a large-scale crackdown against illegal shisha cafes and guest houses in several upscale areas of the city. The operation targeted DHA, Clifton, Boat Basin, Darakshan, and Gizri. During the action, Karachi Police arrested 23 suspects involved in illegal activities.
Officials confirmed that multiple raids were conducted simultaneously across different locations. Police teams recovered hookahs, flavored tobacco, and other banned items. Authorities said these materials were being used in illegal shisha setups operating without permission.
In Boat Basin, Karachi Police raided a property in Clifton Block-5. Three suspects were arrested from the location. Police also recovered seven hookahs from the premises, which were allegedly being used for illegal smoking activities.
Further operations were carried out by Darakshan and Gizri police teams. These raids targeted illegal guest houses and shisha bars operating in residential and commercial areas. In these actions, 11 more suspects were taken into custody, including four women.
Officials said that Karachi Police found evidence linking some of the detained individuals to drug-related activities. One of the arrested women was allegedly involved in supplying methamphetamine, also known as Ice, during private parties. Cases have been registered against all suspects under relevant laws.
Police officials stated that the crackdown is part of an ongoing campaign to eliminate illegal businesses from Karachiโs upscale neighborhoods. They added that such activities violate public safety laws and disturb the local environment.
In a separate development, Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) also conducted operations in different parts of Karachi. Acting on intelligence reports, they arrested five suspects linked to a street crime gang from Niaz Manzil and North Nazimabad. Weapons, mobile phones, and cash were recovered during the raid.
Authorities said Karachi Police will continue joint operations with law enforcement agencies to control illegal activities. They emphasized that strict action will be taken against all those involved in unlawful businesses.
