Two Karachi Police Officers Suspended After ‘Free Biryani’ Video Goes Viral

Two police officers in Karachi have been suspended after allegedly harassing staff at a local restaurant over free biryani. The incident took place in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on Tuesday.

According to reports, the officers were from Aziz Bhatti Police Station. They visited a biryani shop in the area and asked the staff to provide free biryani for the police station.

When the employees refused, an argument reportedly followed. The situation escalated inside the restaurant.

A video of the incident later surfaced on social media. The footage quickly went viral and triggered strong public reaction. Many citizens raised concerns about the behavior of some police personnel.

In the video, one officer can allegedly be heard threatening the staff. He reportedly warned that the cooking pots, known as degs, would be taken to the police station if free biryani was not provided.

The clip led to widespread criticism online. Social media users demanded strict action against the officers involved. Many said such conduct harms public trust in law enforcement.

SSP East Zubair Nazir Ahmed Shaikh took immediate notice of the matter. He ordered the suspension of both officers soon after the video gained attention.

According to the East police spokesperson, a formal departmental inquiry has also been launched. The inquiry officer will review the evidence and record statements. Further action will depend on the findings.

The SSP stated that no officer would receive leniency if found guilty. He said actions that damage the dignity and reputation of the Sindh Police will not be tolerated.

Officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. Authorities aim to determine the full sequence of events at the restaurant.

The incident has once again raised questions about accountability within the police force. Citizens have called for stronger oversight and professional conduct standards.

For now, both officers remain suspended. The department has assured the public that the matter will be handled according to rules and regulations.
