Karachi And Sindh Districts To Receive Rain From Wednesday

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that Karachi and several districts of Sindh will receive rain starting Wednesday. A westerly wave is expected to enter the city from Tuesday evening.

Today, the weather in Karachi will remain partly cloudy to cloudy. Temperatures could reach a maximum of 33ยฐC, with humidity around 88 percent. The PMD predicts that the city will receive rain from March 25 to 29, along with strong winds and possible thunderstorms.

Other districts of Sindh, including Hyderabad, Sukkur, Dadu, Kashmore, Jacobabad, and Larkana, are also expected to receive rain during the forecast period. Citizens have been advised to take precautions, especially in low-lying areas prone to waterlogging.

The westerly wave will first enter parts of Balochistan on March 24 and is likely to intensify by the night of March 27. Districts such as Panjgur, Turbat, Kech, Awaran, Gwadar, Pasni, and Marwar, along with Lasbela, Khuzdar, Chagai, Dalbandin, Kalat, Sibi, Kohlu, Quetta, Barkhan, Naseerabad, Loralai, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Nushki, Harnai, Zhob, Qalat, and Mastung, are expected to experience wet spells.

Earlier this month, Eid prayers in Karachi were disrupted as several areas received rain with thunder and lightning on the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr. Downpours were reported in Malir, Shah Faisal, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Gulistan-e-Johar. Strong winds and rain also affected North Nazimabad, Federal B Area, North Karachi, and Buffer Zone. Coastal areas, including Sea View and Clifton, were not spared from rainfall.

Last month, a severe thunderstorm with gale-force winds caused at least 19 deaths in Karachi, highlighting the importance of monitoring weather updates. The PMD continues to advise residents to stay alert and follow safety guidelines.

Citizens are urged to remain cautious as the city and surrounding districts prepare to receive rain over the coming week.
