A major controversy has surfaced at King Edward Medical University (KEMU) after several students accused Professor Saqib Sohail, Head of the Physiology Department, of both physical and verbal abuse.
The students allege that two days ago, during a class session, Professor Sohail became enraged when they failed to sit in a pre-assigned order. He reportedly shouted at them, used offensive language, and beat some students with sticks.

In a formal complaint submitted to the Vice Chancellor, the students claimed they were instructed to follow a specific seating arrangement. When this was not met, the professor allegedly locked all exits with the help of department staff and subjected nearly 300 students to both psychological and physical abuse.
The complaint further alleges that Professor Sohail threatened students with academic failure, and 62 first-year students were subsequently marked as failed in their supplementary exams, intensifying the unrest.
Adding to the students’ grievances, they claim the professor ordered that all exit points of the department be sealed, leaving no way to escape the situation.
The students are now demanding the professor’s removal from his position and are calling for CCTV cameras to be installed in all classrooms to prevent similar incidents in the future.
In response, the university administration has launched a formal investigation. The Vice Chancellor assured that the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness and pledged that a fair and impartial inquiry is underway to determine the facts and take appropriate action.
