KissanPay, a Shariah-compliant agricultural fintech platform, has been launched in Pakistan.
The platform was introduced at the Pakistan Agriculture Connections Expo 2026. The event was organised by Kissan Gudam.
The launch was attended by State Bank of Pakistan Deputy Governor Saleem Ullah. Ahmed Umair, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Agriculture and Food Security, also attended.
Both officials participated in the disbursement of KissanPay’s first financing to a farmer. The development marks a new step in digital agricultural financing.
KissanPay Connects Agriculture and Banking
KissanPay is a joint initiative involving Kissan Gudam and aik by BankIslami. Kissan Gudam is backed by Haji Sons Group.
The platform aims to connect different parts of Pakistan’s agricultural value chain. These areas include harvesting, storage, financing and liquidity.
Kissan Gudam provides warehousing infrastructure and access to its farmer ecosystem. Meanwhile, aik by BankIslami provides its Banking-as-a-Service framework.
The partnership also offers Shariah-compliant financing solutions. Eligible farmers can seek financing against stored agricultural commodities.
Financing remains subject to applicable eligibility requirements and other relevant criteria.
State Bank Supports Agricultural Fintech
During the event, Deputy Governor Saleem Ullah congratulated Haji Sons Group and aik by BankIslami.
He also expressed support for the new platform. He welcomed collaboration between fintech companies, banks and the agriculture sector.
According to him, platforms such as KissanPay could play an important role in transforming agricultural financing.
The initiative also received support from senior BankIslami officials. They reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to financial innovation.
The officials also highlighted efforts to expand digital and Shariah-compliant financial services.
Digital Financing for Farmers
Ashfaque Ahmed, Chief Officer at aik by BankIslami, discussed the importance of embedded financial services.
He said digital infrastructure could make financing more convenient for agricultural communities. He also highlighted the role of Banking-as-a-Service technology.
Kissan Gudam Chief Technology Officer Anam Tahir also explained the platform’s objective.
She said timely financing can help farmers avoid selling their produce under pressure. The platform is designed to reduce delays in accessing financial services.
Through KissanPay, farmers can potentially move from opening a bank account to receiving financing digitally.
The platform aims to create a connected system for farmers. This system could allow them to store produce, access banking services and secure financing.
New Financing Opportunity for Agriculture
The launch is being viewed as a step toward improving access to agricultural finance in Pakistan.
Farmers often need timely liquidity after harvesting and storing their crops. Digital financing can potentially provide access to funds without immediate crop sales.
The partners aim to make agricultural finance more accessible through technology. They also seek to strengthen the connection between storage facilities and financial services.
KissanPay is expected to support this model through its combined agricultural and banking infrastructure.
