The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has officially announced Eid-ul-Azha Holidays for government offices and public institutions across the province. According to an official notification, four public holidays will be observed from Tuesday, May 26, to Friday, May 29.
The notification was issued by the chief secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Authorities confirmed that all government offices, educational institutions, and public sector departments will remain closed during the Eid-ul-Azha Holidays period.
Officials said citizens will effectively enjoy a six-day break when the holidays are combined with the regular Saturday and Sunday weekend. The extended break is expected to allow families more time to celebrate Eid and travel to their hometowns.
The provincial government stated that the decision was taken to facilitate citizens and government employees during Eid-ul-Azha celebrations. Eid-ul-Azha is one of the most important religious festivals observed by Muslims across Pakistan and around the world.
The announcement has been welcomed by many people across the province, especially employees and students who were waiting for confirmation of the holiday schedule. Social media users also reacted positively after the notification started circulating online.
Despite the Eid-ul-Azha Holidays, emergency and rescue services will continue operating throughout the province. Authorities clarified that departments linked to public safety and emergency response would remain fully functional during the holiday period.
Officials said rescue teams and emergency workers have been directed to continue their duties according to regular schedules. The move is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted emergency services during the busy Eid days.
Traffic flow and public movement are expected to increase significantly during the holidays. Many families travel to different cities and villages to celebrate Eid with relatives. Authorities are also expected to monitor transport and public safety arrangements during the festive period.
The Eid-ul-Azha Holidays announcement comes as preparations for the religious festival continue across Pakistan. Markets, livestock bazaars, shopping centers, and transportation hubs are witnessing increased activity ahead of Eid.
Government departments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also expected to complete essential work before the holidays begin. Employees have been advised to ensure necessary official matters are settled before office closures.
Citizens are also being encouraged to follow cleanliness and safety guidelines during Eid celebrations. Authorities have urged people to cooperate with sanitation staff and avoid dumping animal waste in public places.
The provincial government says all relevant departments will remain coordinated during the holiday period to ensure smooth public services and emergency operations where required.
