The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has introduced a new digital driving licence verification system. The move aims to make licence verification faster and easier for motorists.
Under the new system, KP Launches a QR code-based verification process for driving licences. This will allow instant checking of licence details through an online portal.
According to an official statement, Director of Transport Hassan Abid said the QR code printed on licences will connect users directly to the verification portal. This will help confirm the licence holderโs information within seconds.
The new step is part of efforts to modernize transport services in the province. With this update, KP Launches a more convenient system for drivers and authorities.
Officials said the service will also let citizens save their electronic driving licence, known as e-DL, on their mobile phones. This digital licence will carry legal status and can be used across Pakistan.
The introduction of the e-driving licence means motorists will no longer need to carry a physical card all the time. This could reduce the risk of losing important documents.
Hassan Abid said the QR code system has been introduced to improve public convenience. It will also help traffic police and other authorities verify licences quickly.
The government believes the new system will support digital transformation in public services. It may also improve transparency in the transport department.
As part of the plan, KP Launches a wider digital approach to driving licence management. This includes easier storage, quicker access, and stronger verification methods.
The Directorate of Transport has also received a revenue target for the current fiscal year. The department has been tasked with collecting Rs. 550 million through driving licence fees.
Officials expect the new digital system to increase efficiency and improve fee collection. The QR code feature may also reduce fake licence cases.
The initiative reflects the provincial governmentโs focus on technology-driven reforms. Many drivers are likely to benefit from easier and faster access to their licence records.
