KP Announces Free Laptop Scheme 2026 for Students

PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced a Laptop Scheme for students enrolled in colleges, universities, or religious institutions. This initiative follows a similar program recently launched by the Punjab government.

The scheme specifically targets visually impaired students who are permanent residents of KP. Eligible students must hold a disability certificate issued by the Social Welfare Department. The initiative aims to provide deserving students with modern technology to enhance their educational opportunities. Laptops will be awarded based on merit and academic performance, subject to the availability of funds.

Applications for the Laptop Scheme can be submitted online through the Management Information System (MIS) on the official Social Welfare Department website. The online platform is designed to streamline the application and selection process, ensuring transparency and efficiency.

According to officials, this program reflects the provincial government’s commitment to providing equal educational opportunities for students with disabilities. By offering laptops, students can access screen readers, assistive software, and online educational resources, helping them improve academic performance and digital literacy.

Education experts have praised the initiative, noting that providing laptops will significantly enhance learning outcomes for visually impaired students. They emphasized that access to modern digital tools can bridge educational gaps and support inclusive learning environments across KP.

The KP spokesman stated that this scheme is part of broader efforts to empower the disabled community, promote digital literacy, and advance inclusive education in the province. It also aligns with national efforts to integrate technology into the education system.
