Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi announced a major increase in the relief package for victims of the security operation in Kurram district. The assistance amount has been raised from Rs110,000 to Rs230,000.
Afridi also confirmed that displaced persons living with host families would receive the same relief package. This move aims to ensure equal support for all affected individuals.
The chief minister addressed issues concerning tribal displaced persons. He said the long-standing problem of dual addresses would be resolved. This step will ensure a transparent and fair distribution of the relief package.
Afridi further added that all affected people would receive aid similar to the assistance provided to victims in Khyber district. He emphasised the importance of unity and progress, stating that Pakistanis should move forward like civilised nations. He urged citizens to set aside mutual and sectarian differences and focus on development and stability.
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met with CM Sohail Afridi at the PM House to discuss the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meeting lasted for about an hour, according to ARY News sources.
During the meeting, Afridi briefed the prime minister on provincial law and order concerns. Officials also discussed federal responsibilities and the latest updates on the 13th Finance Commission allocations. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and KP Finance Advisor Muzammil Aslam attended the session, along with Prime Minister’s Political Affairs Advisor Rana Sana and Federal Minister Amir Muqam.
The increase in the relief package comes amid ongoing efforts to support displaced families and ensure proper assistance reaches those affected by the security operation. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and are working to implement fair and efficient relief distribution across the region.
The government’s move has been welcomed by local communities, who see it as a step toward recovery and stability in Kurram district.
