Lahore traffic authorities have deployed additional personnel across major roads to improve traffic flow during busy school hours.
The new arrangements focus on school opening and closing times. These periods often result in increased traffic around educational institutions.
The Chief Traffic Officer Lahore has directed circle officers to remain in the field during these hours.
Additional Traffic Wardens have also been assigned outside more than 200 schools located along major and busy roads.
The measures aim to reduce congestion and make daily travel easier for students, parents and other commuters.
100 Additional Traffic Response Units Deployed
Authorities have deployed 100 additional Traffic Response Units and patrolling officers at important locations across Lahore.
The additional personnel will help manage traffic and respond to congestion around busy areas. Traffic Wardens will particularly focus on roads with heavy traffic during school timings.
Several major routes have been included in the traffic management plan. These include Mall Road, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road and Main Boulevard Gulberg.
Personnel have also been stationed along Allama Iqbal Town Road and Wahdat Road. Maulana Shaukat Ali Road and Canal Road are also covered under the new arrangements.
The deployment is intended to keep vehicles moving and prevent unnecessary traffic blockages.
Action Ordered Against Double-Lane Parking
The CTO has directed circle officers to coordinate with school and college administrations. Officials will hold meetings with educational institutions to improve traffic management around their entrances.
Authorities have also ordered action against double-lane parking outside schools and colleges. Pushcarts and roadside stalls causing traffic problems near educational institutions will also face action.
These measures are expected to reduce roadside obstructions during peak school hours.
Traffic Scouts Programme to Return
Lahore traffic authorities are also focusing on awareness and training initiatives. The head of the Education Unit has been directed to revive the Traffic Scouts Programme.
The programme is expected to promote traffic awareness and responsible road use among students. Meanwhile, the head of Driving Schools has been instructed to develop a scooter training programme.
The initiative could provide practical training for people using scooters on city roads.
The deployment of additional Traffic Wardens forms part of Lahore’s wider traffic management measures.
