Child Injured by Kite String in Lahore Street Tragedy Case

A tragic incident in Lahore has once again raised concerns over unsafe kite flying practices. A 10-year-old boy was seriously injured after a Kite string struck his neck in Valencia Town. The incident was reported on Saturday and caused alarm among local residents.

The child, identified as Mustafa Afandi, was playing with friends in L-Block, Valencia Town. During the activity, a sharp kite string wrapped around his neck and caused severe injuries. People nearby rushed to help and immediately shifted the child to a nearby hospital.

Hospital officials confirmed that the boy received timely medical treatment. Doctors said his condition stabilized quickly. He was later discharged the same evening after his condition was declared out of danger. The incident highlights ongoing risks linked to kite flying in residential areas.

In a separate case, a young man injured by a Kite string in Lahore’s Gajumata area reportedly escaped from General Hospital. Hospital administration confirmed that the injured kite flyer left the facility due to fear. Officials also admitted that CCTV cameras were not working at the time.

Police are still trying to determine which police station has jurisdiction over the incident. The matter remains under investigation, adding to concerns about enforcement challenges.

Meanwhile, police have intensified action against illegal kite sales across Lahore. Law enforcement officials arrested 11 individuals from Shahdara Town and Ravi Road. These suspects were selling kites without registration.

During the raids, police recovered 1,520 kites and 27 reels of banned chemical string. Six suspects were arrested in Shahdara Town with 900 kites and 17 chemical strings. Five others were detained from Ravi Road with 620 kites and 10 chemical strings.

According to SSP City, the accused were supplying kites using loader trucks, rickshaws, and other vehicles. Separate cases have been registered against all suspects involved.

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran took strict notice of the incidents. He ordered authorities to identify irresponsible Kite flyers using Safe City cameras. He also directed police to intensify the crackdown across Lahore.
