Lahore City Traffic Police Proposes Doubling Fine for Driving Without a License

In a renewed effort to curb the menace of driving without a license, Lahore City Traffic Police (CTP) has initiated a crackdown and set up license checkpoints across the city. The department is taking stringent measures to address this issue and has proposed doubling the fine for driving without a license from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 5,000.

As part of their enforcement strategy, the CTP is issuing learner’s permits on an urgent basis to individuals awaiting their driver’s licenses. The police aim to ensure that drivers have the necessary documentation before taking to the roads.

During a crackdown in May 2023, the department successfully fined thousands of motorists found driving without licenses on a daily basis. In addition to this, over 22,000 drivers with learner’s permits and more than 6,000 drivers with expired licenses were issued warnings.

The Lahore City Traffic Police emphasizes that compliance with valid licenses is crucial to ensuring road safety for both drivers and other road users. The officials are strictly enforcing a ‘zero-tolerance’ policy against those who do not comply with license regulations.

The department’s emphasis on driving with a valid license is rooted in promoting road safety and reducing risks for all road users. Driving without a valid license not only puts the driver at risk but also endangers the lives of others on the road.

As Lahore City Traffic Police intensifies its efforts to enforce license regulations, the proposed increase in fines seeks to deter individuals from driving without the required documentation. By prioritizing road safety and adherence to licensing laws, the police aim to make the streets of Lahore safer for everyone.
