Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a Rs10,000 bonus for sanitation workers following their massive cleanup operation across Lahore division during Eid-ul-Adha. The workers collected a staggering 88,927 tonnes of sacrificial animal waste, with Lahore city alone accounting for 54,888 tonnes.
“This year’s cleanliness drive set new benchmarks,” CM Sharif stated, praising workers who braved extreme heat to maintain hygiene standards. Lahore Division Commissioner Zaid bin Maqsood confirmed flawless operations across all districts, with special monitoring at key locations including Canal Road and Shad Bagh.

The historic 72-hour campaign involved over 24,000 LWMC workers using 5,000+ machinery units across Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib. Authorities distributed 2.4 million biodegradable bags and established 651 service camps with 34 dumping sites. Advanced monitoring included drone surveillance and Safe City cameras to prevent illegal waste disposal.
The operation also addressed 20,268 public complaints, mostly from Lahore. Strict enforcement saw 20 FIRs filed, 3 vehicles impounded and Rs300,000+ fines imposed for violations. “This coordinated effort reflects our commitment to public health and environmental protection,” the Commissioner added.
