Groom Among 32 Arrested for Hosting Transgender Dance Party at Lahore Wedding

Lahore police have arrested 32 people, including the groom, for organizing a transgender dance party during a wedding in the Chung area. The event caused a roadblock, disturbing public order.

Authorities said the arrests included transgender performers who participated in the dance. The wedding celebration led to the closure of a public road, prompting the Chung police to intervene.

SHO Muhammad Raza confirmed that a case has been registered against the groom, Abu Bakar, and others involved. The wedding function was canceled, and the groom spent the night in police custody.

The suspects, including Shahzaib, Ramzan, and Ahmed, were booked under multiple legal provisions, including the Sound System Act. Police also seized Rs62,500 in cash during the operation.

Officials noted that the suspects engaged in inappropriate behavior while blocking the road during the transgender dance party. The disruption raised safety concerns for nearby residents and passersby.

DIG Operations stressed that law enforcement will strictly enforce the Sound System Act. He said no leniency will be shown to those violating regulations, and legal proceedings will continue against all involved.

The raid highlights growing concerns about public order during private events in Lahore. Police emphasized that organizers must follow legal guidelines and avoid actions that disturb the community.
