Laiba Ejaz, a 22-year-old Physics graduate from the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), has died in Islamabad under tragic circumstances. Her death has drawn attention to allegations of education fraud involving a consultant who allegedly promised her admission to Harvard University. The case has left her family devastated and raised questions about the alleged financial deception.
According to her family, Laiba graduated with a gold medal in Physics. She hoped to pursue a master’s degree in the subject at Harvard University in the United States. Her family reportedly made significant financial sacrifices to support her ambitions. However, they allege that an education consultant exploited her dream of studying abroad.
The family claims the consultant promised to arrange her admission with a scholarship. He allegedly provided documents presented as proof of the scholarship. Laiba’s family later discovered that the documents were reportedly fake. According to their account, the consultant demanded Rs7 million to facilitate admission to a university in the United States.
Laiba’s father reportedly earned a living by selling milk on a motorcycle. He allegedly sold a plot of land and paid Rs2.1 million in cash to the consultant. Her mother also reportedly pledged her jewellery with a bank to arrange the remaining money. The family said their financial sacrifices were made in the hope of securing a better future for their daughter.
The alleged deception reportedly came to light when Laiba had her admission documents checked. She then discovered that the papers were fraudulent, according to her family. The revelation reportedly shattered her hopes of pursuing higher education abroad.
The family has also made allegations concerning Laiba’s brother. They claim the same consultant promised to arrange a government job for him and allegedly received another Rs500,000. The family further alleged that the man introduced himself as an accounts officer at the Islamabad High Court. These claims require investigation and independent verification.
According to her relatives, Laiba also sent a message to her uncle before her death. She reportedly asked him not to inform her father about the alleged fraud. Her family believes she feared the emotional impact the revelation would have on him.
Laiba’s body was found hanging from a tree within the jurisdiction of Islamabad’s Ramna Police Station. She was identified as Laiba Ejaz, daughter of Muhammad Ejaz. Police initially indicated that the circumstances appeared consistent with suicide.
The allegations surrounding the consultant have brought additional attention to the case. However, the available information does not establish a confirmed link between the alleged fraud and Laiba’s death. The claims require a thorough investigation by the relevant authorities.
