Residents of Karachi are set to face another difficult day as Load Shedding and scheduled power outages are expected to affect several parts of the city on July 1. The announcement comes at a time when Karachi continues to experience intense summer temperatures, increasing the challenges for thousands of households.
K-Electric has confirmed that electricity supply will remain suspended in multiple areas due to planned maintenance work. According to the utility company, the maintenance will begin at 8:00 AM and is expected to continue until 6:00 PM on most affected feeders.
The scheduled Load Shedding means that many consumers could remain without electricity for up to 10 hours during the hottest part of the day. The prolonged outage is likely to impact daily routines, especially for families relying on electricity for cooling, water supply, and other essential household activities.
The areas included in the maintenance schedule are KCHS-D, Makkah Square (Johar Road), Steelix, Gulshan-e-Zubaida, Green Park City, Northern Bypass, Shadman Town, Pakistan Bazaar, Purani Thana RMU, Quetta Town, KDA Employees Society, King Residency, Navy Merchant CHS, Usman Terrace, and Walk Way.
Residents living in these localities have been advised to prepare in advance for the temporary power suspension. Those working from home, running businesses, or depending on electric appliances may experience disruptions throughout the maintenance period.
K-Electric stated that the shutdown is part of its regular maintenance program aimed at improving the reliability and stability of the city’s electricity distribution network. The company said such maintenance activities are necessary to strengthen infrastructure and reduce the chances of unexpected faults in the future.
The utility has also urged consumers to make necessary arrangements before the scheduled outage. It advised residents to charge essential electronic devices, store enough drinking water if needed, and plan their activities according to the announced schedule.
The latest Load Shedding announcement comes as Karachi continues to face extremely hot weather. High temperatures have increased electricity demand across the city, making planned outages more challenging for residents.
Many households depend heavily on electricity to operate fans, air conditioners, water pumps, and refrigerators during the summer season. A long power interruption can affect comfort, water availability, and food storage, particularly during peak daytime hours.
K-Electric has assured consumers that the maintenance work is intended to improve long-term service quality. The company said efforts are being made to complete the work as quickly as possible while minimizing inconvenience to affected consumers.
