LPG prices in Pakistan have increased sharply in major cities, including Peshawar and Lahore. The sudden rise has raised concerns among consumers as official rates are not being enforced properly.
In several markets, LPG is now being sold between Rs380 and Rs420 per kilogram in Peshawar. In Lahore, the rates have reached Rs450 to Rs460 per kilogram. This is well above the government-set price of Rs304 per kilogram.
The situation has caused public concern as prices spike across different regions without regulatory control. Authorities have not taken strong action to implement official pricing standards so far.
Market observers say the prices spike is linked to global energy market volatility. Rising crude oil prices have added pressure on fuel-related commodities, including LPG.
Internationally, Brent crude oil increased by 6.27%, reaching $114 per barrel. UAEโs Murban crude also rose by 3.54%, touching $107 per barrel. These changes have directly impacted local fuel markets.
Experts warn that continued instability in global energy markets may worsen inflation. They say the ongoing prices spike could increase transportation and household energy costs in Pakistan.
In contrast, U.S. crude oil saw a slight decline of 1.5%, settling at $105 per barrel. However, this drop has not helped stabilize regional LPG prices.
Reports suggest that similar price variations are being seen in other cities across the country. Consumers are increasingly struggling with rising fuel expenses as prices spike continue without clear regulation.
Authorities are under pressure to enforce official pricing mechanisms. However, weak monitoring has allowed suppliers to charge higher rates in open markets.
Energy analysts believe geopolitical tensions are also contributing to market uncertainty. The ongoing crisis in key oil transport regions has added further pressure on global supply chains.
The repeated prices spike in LPG highlights the need for stronger market regulation. Experts suggest better enforcement of official rates to protect consumers from unchecked price increases.
For now, households across Pakistan continue to feel the impact of rising fuel costs. Without immediate action, the prices spike trend may persist in the coming weeks.
