Mahmood Achakzai Says Opposition Willing to Talk with Government

ISLAMABAD – Mahmood Achakzai, chairman of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP), stated that the opposition is ready to engage in democratic dialogue with the government. He emphasized that discussions should include provisions allowing PTI founder to meet with party leaders and family members.

Addressing the Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aaeen Pakistan’s (TTAP) national conference, Mahmood Achakzai urged major political figures, including Nawaz Sharif and Fazlur Rehman, to participate in talks. He said dialogue is necessary to help steer the country out of its ongoing political and economic crisis.

“Political leaders should come together, forgive past differences, and work for the nation,” Mahmood Achakzai added, highlighting the importance of unity and cooperation among parties.

Senior PTI leader and former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser also spoke at the conference, stressing the need for justice for the PTI founder. “We want justice on merit, and we seek a fair process without interference,” Qaiser said. He warned that continued political inaction could leave the party with no option but to take protests to the streets.

Mahmood Achakzai’s statement comes amid rising tensions between the government and opposition parties. He reiterated that dialogue remains the preferred method to resolve conflicts and restore stability. Achakzai called on all political leaders to put the country’s interests above party lines and work constructively to address pressing national challenges.

The PMAP chairman stressed that peaceful dialogue, mutual understanding, and forgiveness are essential for democratic progress. Mahmood Achakzai concluded by appealing to both government and opposition to prioritize dialogue and refrain from actions that could further destabilize the political environment.
