Man Arrested for Setting Sister-in-Law on Fire Over Mobile Phone Dispute

In a shocking act of domestic violence, a man was arrested for setting his sister-in-law on fire after she refused to let him check her mobile phone and memory card. The horrific incident occurred in Sardarpur village near Khanewal, Punjab.

According to police reports, the suspect, Ramzan, poured petrol from his motorcycle and set Farhana ablaze after she resisted his repeated demands to access her personal data. At the time of the attack, Farhana’s husband, Yousaf, a truck driver, was away for work.

The victim suffered critical burn injuries and was initially taken to Kabirwala Hospital. Due to the severity of her condition, she was later referred to Nishtar Hospital in Multan for advanced treatment.

Neighbours, alarmed by her screams, alerted the police and Rescue 1122, who rushed to the scene and shifted her to the hospital. Ramzan fled after the attack, but following orders from CCD Additional IG Sohail Zafar Chattha, five police teams were formed under Khanewal District Officer Ishaq Sial to track him down. The suspect was successfully apprehended and handed over to Sarai Sidhu police.

An FIR has been registered, and investigations are ongoing as authorities promise justice in what is being condemned as a brutal and inexcusable act of violence.
