Karachi Man Arrested for 'Sextortion' After Hacking Women’s WhatsApp

KARACHI – Karachi police have arrested a man for allegedly hacking women’s mobile phones and social media accounts to extort money.

The suspect, identified as Samir Khan, reportedly harassed women by sending malicious links to gain unauthorized access to their phones. Using the hacked accounts, he obtained contact numbers and then threatened the victims through calls and WhatsApp messages.

Police say the suspect lured women to meet him under false pretenses, recorded videos, and later threatened to release them online. These threats were used to force women into sexual acts and to demand money.

Investigations revealed that Samir Khan had already extorted several women in Karachi and surrounding areas. The authorities emphasized the severity of cybercrimes targeting women and the growing need for digital safety awareness.

During the arrest, police seized two mobile phones along with numerous obscene videos. The suspect was apprehended from the jurisdiction of Eidgah Police Station. A formal case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing.

Karachi police have urged women to be cautious of unknown messages and links. They also encouraged reporting suspicious activities to prevent cyber harassment and exploitation.

This arrest highlights Karachi police’s proactive efforts to combat cybercrime and protect women from online threats. Authorities confirmed that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in such offenses.
