A Man posing as a Grade 17 officer of the National Assembly Secretariat has been arrested for allegedly using forged documents and falsely claiming to hold a government position.
According to a spokesperson for the National Assembly Secretariat, the suspect has been identified as Abdul Waheed, a resident of Ghotki. Officials said he had been introducing himself as an employee of the National Assembly Secretariat despite having no official connection with the institution.
The Man posing as a government officer was taken into custody after an investigation by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Authorities said the arrest followed the discovery of a fake appointment letter allegedly carrying forged signatures of the Speaker of the National Assembly.
Officials stated that the forged documents were used to support the suspectโs false claim of employment. Investigators believe the documents helped him present himself as a legitimate government officer.
According to the National Assembly Secretariat, the suspect allegedly received protocol and other benefits while pretending to hold an official position. Authorities claim he obtained these privileges through misrepresentation.
The case came to light after members of the public raised concerns. Reports circulating on social media also drew attention to the suspectโs activities, prompting authorities to launch an inquiry.
The National Assembly Secretariat clarified that Abdul Waheed has never been employed by the institution. Officials confirmed that there is no official record of his appointment.
Authorities stressed that forging government documents is a serious criminal offence. They also warned that using the name of the Speaker of the National Assembly or any public office through fake documents violates the law.
Investigators are continuing to examine how the forged appointment letter was created. They are also looking into whether additional fake documents were used during the alleged impersonation.
The Man posing as a National Assembly officer is expected to face further legal proceedings as the investigation continues. Officials have not yet disclosed whether more suspects may be involved in preparing the forged documents.
The FIA is gathering evidence to determine the full extent of the alleged fraud. Authorities are also reviewing whether the suspect benefited financially or received other advantages through the false identity.
The National Assembly Secretariat urged citizens to remain cautious when dealing with individuals claiming to represent government institutions. Officials advised the public to verify appointment letters and official credentials before accepting them as genuine.
Authorities also encouraged people to report suspicious activities involving forged government documents or false claims of public office. Prompt reporting can help law enforcement prevent similar incidents.
The arrest highlights the importance of verifying official documents through the relevant government departments. Modern verification procedures can help reduce the misuse of forged records.
Officials said investigations are ongoing, and additional details will be released as the case progresses. For now, the Man posing as a government officer remains in custody while investigators continue examining the evidence and preparing the case for further legal action.
