Assistant Commissioner Maria Shamoon on Tuesday praised security forces after being briefly held hostage during a terrorist attack in Noshki, Balochistan. She expressed gratitude for her safe rescue and reaffirmed her commitment to public service.
According to security sources, on January 31, Fitna Al Hindustan (FAH) carried out 12 coordinated attacks across Balochistan. Over three days, security operations killed at least 197 terrorists.
During the attacks, 22 personnel from the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), Police, and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) lost their lives. Thirty-six civilians, including women and children, were also killed. Many victims were local Baloch citizens.
As part of the assaults, terrorists launched a major attack on Noshki city. During this incident, Deputy Commissioner Noshki Mohammad Hussain Hazara and Assistant Commissioner Maria Shamoon were briefly taken hostage. Both were safely recovered after a clearance operation by security forces.
In her statement, Maria Shamoon said the attack failed to weaken the resolve of state institutions and local administration. She thanked the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps for their swift and effective response, which prevented the attackers from achieving their goals.
โThe attackers tried to stop us from serving the people of Noshki, but their efforts failed,โ she said. She also expressed appreciation for the support of Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Quetta Corps Commander, and the Inspector General of Frontier Corps.
Maria Shamoon assured the people of Balochistan that the civil administration would continue providing public services under all circumstances. She emphasised that such incidents would not deter officials from fulfilling their duties.
Meanwhile, the families of the martyrs who died during the attacks continue to show courage and resilience. The father of Shaheed SHO Sajid Baloch praised his sonโs bravery in Mach, while the father of Shaheed Siddique Baloch highlighted his sonโs determination to stop militants, even after being injured.
The January 31 attacks underline the ongoing threat posed by Fitna Al Hindustan. Yet, with officials like Maria Shamoon and strong security forces, authorities remain committed to protecting citizens and maintaining stability in Balochistan.
