LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given principal approval for the “Sky Glass Bridge” project in Kotli Sattian near Murree. The project is expected to become a major tourist attraction in the region. Officials say the glass bridge will be the first of its kind in Punjab.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting in Lahore. The meeting was co-chaired by Maryam Nawaz and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif. During the session, officials reviewed several development projects planned for Murree and surrounding areas.
The meeting mainly focused on the “Murree Protection and Restoration Plan.” Authorities decided to hire international experts to address the issue of landslides in the area. These experts will help develop long-term solutions to protect roads, forests, and local communities.
During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz ordered immediate steps to control the “mudflow hill effect.” This problem has caused landslides in several locations around Murree. The Chief Minister also directed officials to provide financial assistance to families affected by recent landslides.
The affected areas include Chatta Mour, Darya Gali, Bansra Gali, Namal, Jheka Gali, and nearby villages. Restoration work in these regions will also begin soon.
The Punjab government has also approved three new “Hospitality Zones” outside Murree city. These zones will be built in Shawala, Sozu, and Bruri. According to officials, the government will work with private investors to build high-quality hotels in these areas.
Plans also include the construction of five-star hotels through public-private partnerships. A special team of experts has been created to supervise the Murree Restoration Project.
In addition, Maryam Nawaz has set a one-month deadline to start work on the Murree Glass Train Project. Authorities believe this project will attract both local and international tourists.
The meeting also reviewed proposals for three new public parks in Murree. Officials presented plans for a zoological garden in Bansra Gali. The project will also include an eco-zone, a modern conference room, and a bridge crossing.
To protect wildlife, authorities will establish a “Bear and Tiger House” and a “Bird Aviary.” These facilities aim to support wildlife conservation while promoting tourism.
Murree’s first Glamping Pod Village will also be built at Chewra Hill. This project will offer luxury camping experiences for visitors. Its management will be handed over to the private sector.
Other tourism initiatives include a Paragliding Club in Chewra. Meanwhile, the Kotli Sattian Chairlift, Punjab House, and Forest Rest House projects are still under review.
