Punjab Chief Minister CM Maryam Nawaz met the High Commissioner of Mauritius, Mansoo Krombaks, on Sunday. The meeting focused on strengthening economic and trade ties between Punjab and Mauritius.
During the discussion, CM Maryam Nawaz welcomed the Mauritian envoy warmly and highlighted the importance of enhancing business-to-business connections. Both sides explored options to promote trade delegations and organise joint trade exhibitions to boost commercial engagement.
Maryam Nawaz emphasised that cooperation should go beyond trade. She proposed deepening collaboration in key sectors, including education, tourism, agriculture, and people-to-people exchanges. She said Punjab is keen to build long-term partnerships that benefit both sides economically.
Both leaders also discussed increasing cooperation in halal food production, technology, and human resource development. CM Maryam Nawaz expressed Punjab’s readiness to support investment in the blue economy, a sector gaining global importance.
The chief minister highlighted Punjab’s plan to enhance exports of rice, textiles, and pharmaceuticals to Mauritius. She noted that these sectors hold strong potential to grow bilateral trade between the two regions.
Maryam Nawaz appreciated High Commissioner Mansoo Krombaks for his initiatives in youth development and his efforts against drug abuse. She said such efforts are essential for regional stability and social development.
The meeting reflected Punjab’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships. CM Maryam Nawaz stated that close economic collaboration can create new opportunities, generate employment, and improve trade relations.
