Maryam Nawaz Says Protecting Human Rights Is Core PML-N Vision

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that protecting human rights remains a central priority of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). She shared this message on Wednesday while marking International Human Rights Day, emphasizing the party’s long-standing commitment to justice and equality.

In her statement, she said the first complete charter of human rights was delivered in the Farewell Sermon. She added that Islam strongly advocates human dignity and social fairness. According to her, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) presented an enduring message that laid the foundation of universal human rights.

Maryam Nawaz stated that December 10 is observed worldwide to highlight the importance of human rights. She stressed that every person holds equal rights, regardless of race, religion, gender or social status. She added that respecting human rights is essential for building a prosperous, peaceful and developed society.

The chief minister noted that promoting human rights reflects the core vision of the PML-N government. She said the administration is working to improve education, healthcare, religious freedom, freedom of expression and access to basic facilities for all citizens. According to her, the Punjab government aims to create an environment where everyone enjoys equal opportunities and fair treatment.

She further emphasized that societies grow stronger when love, respect and tolerance are encouraged. Ensuring basic rights, she said, is a key marker of a civilized nation. “Safeguarding the fundamental rights of citizens is the foremost responsibility of the state,” she added.

Maryam Nawaz also highlighted the practical steps taken by the Punjab government for the protection of citizens. These actions include efforts to eliminate forced labour, ensure religious freedom and provide justice without discrimination. She said the government will continue to introduce reforms that support fairness, equality and human dignity.
