The Punjab government has forwarded a summary to the Chief Minister’s House seeking approval for Phase-II of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Honhaar Scholarship Programme.
According to the proposal, Rs33 billion has been earmarked for the programme during the current financial year to support talented students from Punjab in pursuing higher education.
If approved, the second phase will provide selected students with opportunities to study at leading international universities. The government plans to cover major educational expenses, including tuition fees, accommodation, travel costs and other related academic expenditures.
In addition to these benefits, scholarship recipients would receive a monthly stipend ranging from Rs65,000 to Rs70,000 to help meet living expenses during their studies.
The Honhaar Scholarship Programme is intended to help academically outstanding students gain access to world-class education and strengthen their future career opportunities.
At present, the proposal has been submitted for approval and has not yet been formally launched. Further details, including eligibility criteria, the application process and participating universities, are expected after the Chief Minister’s Office issues an official decision.

The expansion of the programme could provide more students from Punjab with opportunities to pursue higher education abroad while easing the financial burden associated with international study.
