Met. Dept. announces Eid-ul-Azha date in Pakistan

Eid-ul-Azha is expected to fall on Thursday, June 29, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s (PMD) estimate for the sighting of the Dhul-Hajj moon.

The majority of the nation is anticipated to have overcast weather during the moon sighting, according to the department’s Climate Data Processing Centre. The predicted time of sunset is 7:24 p.m.

According to the centre, the moon must be at least 19 hours old in order to be viewed and can be observed for up to 80 minutes after sunset. Based on this information, it is estimated that the Dhul-Hajj moon will be visible on 19 June, with the first day of Dhul-Hajj falling on 20 June and Eid-ul-Azha expected to be celebrated on Thursday, 29 June.

The cabinet division has previously released a statement describing the public and optional holidays for the upcoming year in order to enable public queries and planning. In accordance with this notification, there will be a long weekend and three holidays for Eid-ul-Adha on June 29, June 30, and July 1. There will also be an additional holiday on July 2, which falls on a Sunday.

Based on the actual sighting of the moon, these dates may change. Once the moon has been formally observed, a different notification will be sent out.

The Central Sighting Hilal Committee, which meets on the 29th day of every Islamic month, will make the ultimate declaration regarding the moon sighting.
