Pakistani security forces carried out a targeted operation near Wanda Amir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, against the militant group Fitna al Khawarij. During the raid, Barkatullah, also known as Barkati and Abu Zar, a highly wanted militant commander, was neutralized.
Authorities stated that Barkatullah had been involved with multiple militant organizations in the region and used several aliases to evade arrest. The suspect was wanted in over 10 criminal cases, including attacks on Pak security forces.
Local peace committee volunteers assisted law enforcement during the operation, helping secure the area and track down militants. Police recovered weapons and ammunition from the site, while some militants managed to escape due to the challenging terrain.
In a related operation, Pakistani security forces also eliminated another high-value militant commander, Dilawar, in Kulachi, Dera Ismail Khan. Dilawar, reportedly sponsored by foreign elements, was linked to multiple attacks on civilians and security personnel. A reward of Rs. 4 million had been announced for his capture.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that both operations were intelligence-based and part of ongoing efforts to eliminate militancy from the country. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, and clearance operations continue in both regions to remove any remaining threats.
Officials emphasized that the neutralization of these militant commanders is a significant step in ensuring local security and disrupting terrorist networks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Security forces remain committed to countering militancy and preventing further attacks.
The operations highlight the coordination between local authorities, security agencies, and community volunteers, demonstrating Pakistanโs continued resolve to combat terrorism and protect civilians.
