The father of slain Mir Raza Ali has raised concerns over the Sindh government’s decision to form a judicial commission. He has demanded a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to investigate his son’s death.
Speaking on ARY News programme 11th Hour, Mir Hussain Ali said the family had requested a JIT. He urged the Sindh government to consider their demand.
Mir Raza Ali’s father said the family wanted to know who was responsible for his son’s death. He questioned why the government had not formed a JIT despite their request.
“We want to know who the killer is. Why is a JIT not being formed?” Mir Hussain asked.
He also said the family was not consulted before the judicial commission was announced. According to him, the family learned about the decision through television reports.
Mir Hussain further questioned statements by Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab. Wahab had said the government was standing with Mir Raza’s family.
However, Mir Hussain rejected the claim. He asked Wahab to explain why a JIT had not been formed.
He also questioned what was stopping authorities from accepting the family’s demand. He said the family wanted greater confidence in the investigation process.
According to Mir Hussain, the family had cooperated with investigative teams throughout the case. They also continued their cooperation during the burial process.
However, the family now wants a JIT to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death.
Family Raises Concerns Over Investigation
Mir Hussain also discussed concerns about earlier developments in the case. He claimed the exhumation process had faced difficulties.
He further alleged that the investigation panel was changed overnight. These developments have added to the family’s concerns about the investigation.
Mir Raza Ali’s father clarified that the family had no objection to judicial supervision. He said a judge could oversee the investigation if authorities considered it appropriate.
However, he stressed that the main demand remained the formation of a JIT. He questioned why the family’s request was not being accepted.
“If the same investigative teams will work under the judicial commission, why is our demand for a JIT not being accepted?” he asked.
Family Seeks Direct Contact With Government
Mir Hussain urged the Sindh government to contact the family directly. He asked officials to listen to their concerns before proceeding with the investigation.
Mir Raza Ali’s father said the family should be taken into confidence about major decisions in the case. He maintained that their priority was finding the truth about Mir Raza’s death.
The family’s demand comes after the Sindh government announced a judicial commission. The commission is intended to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.
The family, however, continues to seek a JIT instead. They believe such an investigation would provide greater confidence in the process.
