Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has issued another warning ahead of PTI’s planned September 27 march towards Islamabad.
Naqvi urged the party to reconsider its protest plans. He said the government would take legal measures if the march proceeds.
PTI has announced a nationwide protest and march towards Islamabad for September 27. The party is demanding the release of its founder Imran Khan, among other demands.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Mohsin Naqvi said there was still time for PTI to change its approach.
He warned the party against entering what he described as a “dead-end” situation. He also urged PTI leaders to avoid harming their workers.
Naqvi Links Warning to Security Situation
Naqvi also discussed the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during his remarks.
He referred to recent militant attacks and the deaths of security personnel in the province.
The interior minister criticised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government over its response to the recent security situation. These comments reflected the federal government’s position.
Naqvi said political disagreements could continue. However, he argued that political activity should not undermine public order or security.
Government Says Court Orders Will Be Implemented
Mohsin Naqvi said the government would implement the Islamabad High Court’s orders if the planned march proceeds.
The IHC has ruled that political parties cannot block roads or occupy public spaces in ways that infringe citizens’ rights.
The judgment also addressed the use of government resources and personnel for political protests.
Naqvi said authorities would use available legal options to enforce the court’s decision.
He previously said people violating the judgment could face contempt proceedings and other legal action.
The minister also claimed that many PTI leaders were not in favour of the planned march. PTI has continued publicly preparing for the September 27 mobilisation.
Naqvi Comments on Imran Khan’s Medical Care
The interior minister also addressed questions about Imran Khan’s medical treatment.
According to Naqvi, the required medical facilities had been provided to the former prime minister.
He said further medical examinations and treatment would be provided according to the law.
The minister also spoke about discussions surrounding possible new administrative units in Pakistan.
He said any such changes should move forward according to the wishes of the public.
Meanwhile, Mohsin Naqvi maintained that the government would focus on maintaining law and order during the planned protest.
