Mohsin Naqvi Urges Strict Compliance From Pilgrims During Iraq Visit

Pakistanโ€™s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi warns that all Pakistani pilgrims visiting Iraq must adhere strictly to the approved travel period. The statement came during detailed discussions with Iraqi Interior Minister General Abdul Karim Al-Shammari, focusing on long-term cooperation between the two countriesโ€™ interior ministries.

During the meeting, both ministers agreed to strengthen coordination for smooth pilgrim arrangements and to advance broader security cooperation. The Iraqi minister praised Pakistanโ€™s recent efforts to formally organize and regulate pilgrim groups, calling the measures โ€œcommendableโ€ and noting that such steps were taken effectively for the first time under the current administration.

Mohsin Naqvi warns that no pilgrim would be allowed to overstay beyond the approved duration. He emphasized that institutions in both countries would maintain close contact to ensure compliance and seamless coordination throughout the pilgrimage period.

The two ministers also discussed expanding cooperation in security, counterterrorism, human trafficking prevention, and information exchange through a joint mechanism. They agreed that these measures would enhance the safety and dignity of all pilgrims.

Minister Naqvi thanked the Iraqi government and people for their continued hospitality and support toward Pakistani pilgrims. He reiterated that the Government of Pakistan prioritizes the safety, dignity, and facilitation of its citizens during their visit.

In a related development, General Al-Shammari announced plans to visit Pakistan soon to finalize a joint strategy aimed at further improving pilgrim facilitation, security coordination, and bilateral ties. The visit is expected to strengthen collaboration and ensure better management of pilgrim affairs in the future.

Through these measures, Mohsin Naqvi warns that Pakistan remains committed to protecting its citizens while promoting responsible travel practices. Authorities in both countries are set to work closely to ensure compliance and safeguard pilgrims throughout their journey.
