‘More than 100 Militants Killed’ in Three-Month Balochistan Operations

QUETTA: Balochistan’s security situation saw major activity over the past three months, as senior officials revealed new details of recent operations. During a high-level meeting on Wednesday, Additional Chief Secretary for Home and Tribal Affairs Mohammad Hamza Shafqaat stated that ‘More than 100 militants killed’ is the result of targeted actions carried out in the northern parts of the province.

He said security forces conducted more than 200 intelligence-based operations in Kachhi district alone. These actions were part of a wider campaign against terrorist networks and criminal groups operating in multiple regions.

Shafqaat informed the meeting that authorities had sealed 3,561 illegal petrol pumps. In addition, customs teams carried out 2,575 operations and seized 416 non-custom-paid vehicles. He added that the registration of seminaries was underway, with strict enforcement of relevant regulations across the province.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, also reviewed progress on national and provincial action committee targets. Senior security officials and Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan attended the session, which focused on law and order and the status of ongoing operations.

Officials repeated the figure ‘More than 100 militants killed’ as an indicator of the intensity of recent security actions. They noted that coordinated efforts were being made to weaken militant networks and restrict their movement in sensitive districts.

CM Bugti expressed satisfaction with the efforts made so far. He praised the performance of law-enforcement agencies in reducing smuggling, controlling crime and responding to security threats. He directed concerned departments to speed up operations and ensure strong enforcement on the ground.

Bugti stressed that protecting citizens’ lives and property is the state’s main duty. He said the government will continue to use all available resources to maintain peace and support development across Balochistan.
