Mother Arrested for Faking Son’s Kidnapping to Demand Ransom

Rawalpindi’s Ratta Amral police have arrested a woman for fabricating the kidnapping of her 9-month-old son and demanding ransom.

According to reports, the suspect, identified as Sofia, falsely claimed that her child had been abducted and that a ransom was being demanded to mislead law enforcement.

She contacted the 15 Emergency Helpline, reporting a fake kidnapping incident. However, upon investigation, authorities found no evidence of such an event taking place.

During questioning, Sofia admitted to making the false report as part of a scheme to extort 1.5 million rupees from her husband. Following her confession, police registered a case and took her into custody.

Officials reiterated that the 15 Emergency Helpline is strictly for public assistance and warned that any misuse of the service would result in legal consequences.
