LARKANA – A shocking case of violence has emerged from Sindh where a Mother, daughter murdered incident has been reported in Larkana. Police confirmed the tragic killing of two family members in a suspected honour-related crime.
The victims were identified as 45-year-old Shahida Jatoi and her 18-year-old daughter Naghma Jatoi. The case has raised serious concern in the local community.
According to police, the incident took place on April 8 in Bakrani Tehsil. Authorities said a man allegedly killed his sister-in-law and niece inside their home.
The suspect, Ghulam Ali alias Ali Haider Jatoi, is accused of carrying out the brutal attack. Reports suggest that the Mother, daughter murdered case involved a dispute linked to a rejected marriage proposal.
Police stated that after the killing, the accused allegedly threw both bodies into the Indus River. Later, law enforcement teams recovered the bodies and shifted them for postmortem examination.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered based on a complaint filed by a relative. The investigation is now underway, and police are gathering evidence.
Officials also revealed that the suspect allegedly damaged the victims’ house. He is said to have set parts of the property on fire after committing the crime.
In a significant development, the accused has been arrested. Police confirmed that the weapon used in the incident has also been recovered. The suspect reportedly had a previous criminal record involving a murder case.
The case of Mother, daughter murdered has also drawn attention from human rights organizations. The Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) took suo motu notice of the incident.
The commission strongly condemned the killings and called them a serious violation of human rights. It stressed that violence in the name of honour must be strictly punished under the law.
Authorities have been urged to ensure a transparent and fair investigation. The SHRC also demanded quick justice without any external pressure or delay.
