Murree and Kotli Sattian have been Designated as Forest Reserves.

The district administration of Rawalpindi has designated Murree and Kotli Sattian as forest reserves, in addition to transforming the national park into a tourist attraction. Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha disclosed this information during a meeting focused on implementing the directives of the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench regarding the Murree Contingency Plan.

Senior Member Board of Revenue, Nabil Javed, attended the meeting and stressed the importance of all departments adhering to the LHC’s orders to prevent unforeseen incidents. Javed also directed the finalization of the master plan for Murree by overcoming any hindrances, emphasizing swift preparations at the local level without delays.

Nabil Javed instructed the Civil Defense, police, forest, and other departments to promptly provide additional workforce to the Murree administration. He issued directives for the timely completion of four under-construction bypasses of Murree towards Galiat, including Dadhyal, Bustan Mor, and Bansra Gali to Kali Mitti.

The Rawalpindi commissioner informed the meeting about the preparations made to address the forecasted snowfall in the coming days. He mentioned that all departments are on high alert, and a recent encroachment drive successfully demolished all illegal buildings. Additionally, the commissioner’s office has imposed a two-month ban on construction.

The meeting also conveyed that the district administration plans to construct a parking plaza on 10 canals of land owned by the Murree Improvement Trust.
