Khalid Maqbool Responds To Mustafa Kamal’s Press Conference On MQM Founder

MQM-Pakistan (MQM-P) senior leader Khalid Maqbool has responded to recent allegations made by Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal. Kamal accused the MQM founder of orchestrating serious crimes, including the murder of senior party leader Dr Imran Farooq.

Speaking at a press briefing, Khalid Maqbool said that MQM-P had already presented its complete narrative on August 23, 2016. He stressed that all party decisions are now made in Pakistan and the party has fully separated from MQM-London. “This is our complete narrative, which covers all matters,” he said, emphasizing that the party’s stance on past controversies remains unchanged.

Mustafa Kamal had claimed in a press conference in Karachi that the MQM founder treated Dr Imran Farooq’s murder as a “birthday gift.” Dr Farooq was stabbed to death outside his London home in September 2010. Kamal alleged that the founder staged scenes around the body and even recovered £500,000 from under the founder’s pillow.

Kamal further accused the MQM founder of collecting millions of pounds to transport Dr Farooq’s body to Pakistan. He also claimed that the founder received financial support from India’s intelligence agency, RAW, for over 25 years. According to Kamal, the founder used his influence to mobilize hundreds of thousands of people during strikes and protests in Karachi.

The federal minister criticized the MQM founder for prioritizing personal power over national interests. He alleged that the founder neglected constitutional reforms, overcrowded prisons, and forcibly disappeared many young people. Kamal also called for the immediate arrest of those responsible for Dr Farooq’s murder.

MQM-P leaders insist that the party has already clarified its position regarding past leadership issues. Khalid Maqbool reiterated that the party fully operates in Pakistan and maintains a clear separation from MQM-London.

Observers note that the renewed accusations against the MQM founder have reignited political debate in Karachi. The controversy highlights lingering tensions within the party and raises questions about accountability and historical actions.
