Mustafa Kamal Orders Technical Staff Deployment at PIMS

ISLAMABAD: Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal has ordered steps to address the shortage of technical staff at PIMS.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by the federal health minister.

The meeting reviewed the engineering and technical requirements at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.

Officials also examined the hospitalโ€™s HVAC system after a recent fire incident.

The fire occurred in the maternity and postnatal ward of the hospital.

During the meeting, Kamal directed the health secretary to contact the relevant authorities.

He also ordered the immediate restoration of the HVAC system at the affected ward.

The minister said additional technical support was urgently needed at the hospital.

A formal letter will be sent to the Ministry of Housing regarding staff deployment.

The ministry has been asked to help arrange suitable engineering and technical personnel.

Kamal also proposed deploying engineers from the surplus staff pool to PIMS.

The additional workforce is expected to help address the hospitalโ€™s manpower shortage.

It could also improve the maintenance of critical hospital systems.

The minister stressed the importance of uninterrupted healthcare services at the facility.

He said all necessary measures would be taken to protect patients and children.

The latest decision comes after concerns over technical facilities at the major Islamabad hospital.

The HVAC system plays an important role in maintaining suitable conditions inside hospital wards.

Its restoration is therefore considered important for patient care and hospital operations.

Meanwhile, nurse Razia Noreen has received widespread appreciation for her bravery during the fire.

She reportedly risked her life to rescue a newborn from the burning maternity ward.

According to a report published by The Washington Post, Noreen entered the fire-hit room.

She managed to bring a newborn to safety within eight seconds.

Noreen said her focus was only on saving the babies inside the room.

She explained that she did not think about her personal safety during the emergency.

The nurse said she was simply carrying out her duty as a nurse and mother.

Her actions have received praise from people across Pakistan.

Members of different religious and social communities have also appreciated her courage.

Her response during the emergency has been described as an example of dedication.

The incident has also highlighted the difficult conditions faced by hospital workers.

Noreenโ€™s actions have drawn national attention following the PIMS fire.

The government has announced a national honour for the nurse.

She will reportedly receive the Sitara-i-Khidmat for her bravery and service.

A financial reward has also been announced in recognition of her actions.

The governmentโ€™s decision to strengthen technical staffing could support safer hospital operations.

Authorities are now expected to focus on restoring essential systems at PIMS.
