The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced that citizens can now update their CNIC picture through the Pak ID mobile application. This service eliminates the need to visit a registration center in person.
According to NADRA, users can log into their Pak ID account and select the “Update Card” option to submit a request for changing their CNIC picture. The move is part of NADRA’s efforts to provide easier access to digital services for all citizens.
The announcement came in response to a social media query, where a citizen asked if it was possible to change the CNIC photograph and the procedure to do so. NADRA clarified that the process is simple, secure, and fully digital.
Guidelines for Capturing CNIC Picture
NADRA has provided detailed instructions for capturing the CNIC picture correctly through the app:
- Click on “Capture” and choose either the front or back camera.
- Ensure no shadows appear on the face and hair is away from the eyes.
- Keep the face unobstructed and use a plain white background.
- Remove glasses and ensure proper lighting.
- Maintain a proper distance so the face fits clearly within the circular frame.
- Men may wear a cap or turban if the face is fully visible.
- Women may wear a hijab, ensuring the face and chin are clearly visible.
- Stay calm and steady during the photo capture. The process is complete when the on-screen circle turns green.
This new facility allows citizens to manage their CNIC records from their smartphones, saving time and providing greater convenience. NADRA said the initiative is part of its broader push toward digital transformation and citizen-friendly services.
The Pak ID mobile application now offers multiple services, including CNIC updates, address changes, and verification processes, making it easier for citizens to access essential government services without visiting offices physically.
