ISLAMABAD: The federal government has made biometric vaccination verification mandatory for Pakistani Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced the system with health authorities. The initiative aims to meet vaccination requirements set by the Saudi government.
The new procedure was developed with Border Health Services-Pakistan and the Ministry of Health. It provides pilgrims with a simpler way to obtain vaccination verification cards.
Pilgrims must complete the process before receiving their required vaccinations. The procedure consists of three main steps.
Complete biometric verification and payment
Pilgrims can complete biometric verification through the Pak-ID mobile application from home. They can also visit their nearest NADRA e-Sahulat franchise.
Applicants must complete biometric verification for the required vaccines. These include influenza and meningitis vaccines, where applicable.
They must also pay the required fee during the process. After successful verification through the MBVS system, applicants receive a verification slip.
Pilgrims must provide a valid mobile phone number for SMS notifications. The number should be registered on the same principal network.
Receive the required vaccination
After reaching the airport, pilgrims must visit the designated vaccination counter. The counter will operate through an approved Federal Government Civil Dispensary.
Border Health Services will operate the facility. Pilgrims must present their biometric verification and payment confirmation.
After verification, they can receive the required vaccination. The process is designed to make vaccination verification easier for travelers.
Download the vaccination card
After receiving the vaccination, pilgrims can download their vaccination verification card online.
The card is available through the National Immunization Management System. Pilgrims can access the card through the official NIMS website.
Border Health Services has advised Pakistani Hajj and Umrah pilgrims to obtain this card. It will serve as proof of their vaccination.
Requirements for children
Different biometric requirements apply to children based on their age.
Children below 12 years must complete MBVS verification for influenza vaccination only.
Children aged 12 years and above must complete verification for two vaccines. These include influenza and meningitis vaccines.
Parents and guardians should ensure that children’s vaccination requirements are completed before travel.
Deadline reportedly extended
The implementation deadline for the integrated vaccination card has reportedly been extended.
Sources in Border Health Services said the new deadline is September 25, 2026. An official notification confirming the extension is expected soon.
Earlier instructions stated that passengers needed valid vaccination proof after September 14. Those without the required proof could have faced travel restrictions.
The NADRA-integrated system is intended to improve vaccination verification for pilgrims. Authorities also aim to support the health and safety of Hajj and Umrah travelers.
