Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi seeks to strengthen Pakistan-China security cooperation during a high-level visit to Beijing on Wednesday.
Naqvi was warmly received by Chinese Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong at the Ministryโs headquarters. The two ministers held extensive talks on bilateral relations, counterterrorism cooperation, and police training exchanges. Both sides agreed to enhance operational coordination and institutional mechanisms.
During the meeting, Naqvi seeks to ensure robust protection measures for Chinese nationals and joint development projects in Pakistan. He emphasized that the security of Chinese citizens remains a โtop priorityโ and announced plans for a special protection unit in Islamabad.
The ministers also agreed to hold Joint Working Group meetings every three months and annual meetings of interior ministers to review progress. Discussions included strengthening rapid-response mechanisms against terrorism and crime, and expanding police training and exchange programs.
Naqvi seeks Chinese support in curbing cybercrime, noting that collaboration with Chinaโs AI-based technologies could help Pakistan tackle terrorism and emerging security challenges. He highlighted the importance of cooperation with the National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency to improve digital security frameworks.
Chinese Minister Wang Xiaohong expressed satisfaction with Pakistanโs current security measures and praised the countryโs commitment to protecting Chinese nationals. Both sides also discussed IslamabadโBeijing sister-city cooperation and agreed to develop strategies to enhance professional capacity and training for police and security personnel.
The Pakistani delegation included Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Agha, Ambassador Khalil Hashmi, Director Generals of the National Police Academy and National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency, and top officials from Islamabadโs police administration. Senior Chinese officials present included Vice Ministers Xu Datong and Yu Xiuhe, Beijing Deputy Mayor Cen Yuanbiao, and Director Generals of Counterterrorism and International Cooperation departments.
The meeting underscored the โunbreakable bondโ between Pakistan and China. Strengthened security, counterterrorism efforts, and cybercrime collaboration are now central to the bilateral agenda, reflecting shared priorities for stability and protection of nationals and strategic projects.
