Nation Marks 76th Martyrdom Anniversary Of Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed

Today, Pakistan observed the 76th martyrdom anniversary of Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed, the first recipient of the Nishan-e-Haider, with solemn ceremonies nationwide. Quran recitations and special prayers were held in mosques across the country.

Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed, a brave Pakistan Army hero, gave his life defending the nation during the Kashmir conflict. On July 27, 1948, he led his company in an attack on a heavily fortified Indian position in the Uri Sector.

Despite severe wounds and intense enemy fire, Captain Sarwar breached barbed wire obstacles and enabled his company to capture the position before being fatally struck by machine gun fire.

Religious scholars highlighted the significance of honoring such martyrs, asserting that their sacrifices are a national debt and that their valor teaches unity and solidarity.

They emphasized that the freedom enjoyed today is a result of the sacrifices of heroes like Captain Sarwar, who will forever remain in the hearts of Pakistanis.
