Pakistan witnessed a complete nationwide business shutdown on Saturday, as traders from across the country expressed solidarity with Palestinians facing Israeli aggression in Gaza. The call for the protest was led by Kashif Chaudhry, President of the Central Organization of Traders Pakistan.
Chaudhry stated that commercial activity came to a standstill “from Khyber to Karachi,” with major cities like Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Quetta, and Peshawar reporting full participation. The strike marked one of the largest unified demonstrations by the business community in recent years.

Speaking in Lahore, Chaudhry urged the Pakistani government to ban Israeli imports and block the sale of Israeli-linked products. He claimed nearly $20 billion flows from Pakistan to Israel annually, arguing that these funds could strengthen Pakistan’s economy if redirected.
He also called for domestic economic reforms, including support for Pakistani brands and relief for industries through lower electricity and gas prices. “The martyrs of Gaza have opened new business opportunities for you,” he told fellow traders.
The protest underscores the growing public anger and calls for action in Pakistan amid the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
