Has Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu Been Killed? Iranian Media Claims

Has Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu Been Killed Iranian Media Claims

Reports from Iranโ€™s Tasnim News Agency on Monday suggested that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu may have been killed or wounded. The report sparked speculation online amid ongoing Israel-Iran tensions.

Tasnim did not provide evidence to support the claims. The article cited the absence of recent video clips of Netanyahu, reports of tightened security around his home, and the postponement of a planned visit by Jared Kushner and US envoy Steve Witkoff. A French readout of a call between President Emmanuel Macron and Netanyahu was also referenced, though the date was unclear.

The report included a secondhand claim attributed to former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter via Russian media. Ritter allegedly said Iran had attacked Netanyahuโ€™s hideout and that his brother had been killed. Tasnim noted that these claims were unconfirmed.

Analysts say this fits a pattern of Iranian and pro-Iranian media using real fragments of information to create dramatic narratives. Tasnim is widely described as close to Iranโ€™s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and the US Treasury has linked it to the IRGC.

Public information, however, contradicts the claim. Netanyahu issued an official statement on March 7, and he reportedly visited an impact site in Beersheba on March 6. He also conducted a phone call with Macron on March 5, confirmed by both the ร‰lysรฉe and The Jerusalem Post.

This is not the first Iranian claim about Netanyahuโ€™s status during the conflict. Previous reports suggested his fate was โ€œunclear,โ€ which Israeli officials dismissed as fake news. Residents near Netanyahuโ€™s office also reported no missile impacts after similar claims.

Experts caution that in wartime, the absence of public appearances, schedule changes, or delayed video updates can fuel misinformation. Tasnimโ€™s report offers insinuation, not proof. No credible source has verified any harm to Netanyahu as of Monday evening.

The Israeli government continues to monitor security around senior officials and issues official updates when necessary, emphasizing that the Iranian claims remain unverified.
