The Petroleum Division of the federal government has launched a new app to help travelers to search for registered and authorized petrol pumps across Pakistan. The app aims to make fuel access easier and safer for both consumers and transporters.
This move is part of the governmentโs efforts to implement comprehensive reforms in the fuel sector. A modern track-and-trace system is being introduced to prevent fuel smuggling at petrol pumps and across the supply chain.
The mobile application, called โRaahguzar,โ provides verified information about legally approved petrol stations. Travelers can now quickly identify registered and authorized fuel outlets, ensuring safe and reliable fuel purchases.
For effective monitoring, the Petroleum Division has collaborated with the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). The system links fuel tankers, terminals, and retail outlets through a digital network. This ensures smooth tracking of fuel distribution and prevents illegal activities.
Automatic tank gauges and digital nozzles will be installed at petrol pumps to maintain accurate measurement and monitor fuel quality. This technology will provide transparency and protect consumers from fraud.
The Directorate General of Petroleum Concessions (DGPC) will also launch a new online portal. The portal will make the bidding process for oil and gas exploration blocks more transparent. Meanwhile, an Explosives Track-and-Trace System has been implemented for real-time monitoring of explosives supply, with two phases already completed.
To strengthen enforcement against illegal fuel trade, amendments have been made to the Petroleum Act, 1934. The new rules include heavy fines and confiscation for illegal sale and transportation of petroleum products.
By using this app, travelers to search for authorized petrol pumps can now have a safer and more convenient fueling experience. The government expects the system to reduce smuggling, increase transparency, and improve overall fuel management in the country.
