New Electricity Rates for Users Consuming Up to 300 Units in Pakistan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a nationwide relief package to lower electricity prices ahead of the summer season.

As per official records, new electricity tariffs have been introduced for different categories of users:

  • Lifeline consumers using up to 50 units will now be charged Rs4.78 per unit, while those consuming 51 to 100 units will continue to pay Rs9.37 per unit.
  • Protected consumers consuming 1 to 100 units will see a Rs6.14 reduction in the per-unit cost, bringing the rate down from Rs14.67 to Rs8.52.
  • For those using 101 to 200 units, the cost has also been reduced by Rs6.14, cutting the rate from Rs17.65 to Rs11.51 per unit.
  • Non-protected users who consume up to 300 units will benefit from a Rs7.24 per-unit decrease, with rates dropping from Rs41.26 to Rs34.03.
  • For non-protected consumers exceeding 300 units, the per-unit cost has been lowered from Rs55.70 to Rs48.46, also reflecting a Rs7.24 reduction.

Additionally, the overall tariff for domestic consumers has been decreased by Rs6.71 per unit, bringing it down from Rs38.34 to Rs31.63.

This move aims to ease the financial burden on households as energy demand rises in the coming months.
