New Motorway Projects to Connect Sukkur, Hyderabad and Karachi

KARACHI: Federal Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan has announced new motorway projects in Sindh.

He said work on the Sukkur-Hyderabad and Hyderabad-Karachi routes will begin this year. The project will start from Sukkur and is expected to finish within two years.

The minister made the announcement while speaking to reporters in Karachi. He said the government is focused on improving road connectivity across Sindh.

According to Abdul Aleem Khan, a New Motorway will also be constructed between Karachi and Hyderabad. The proposed route will be separate from the existing M-9 motorway.

The minister said the Karachi-Hyderabad motorway would not be connected to the current M-9 route. He described the project as an important development for Sindh.

He said the New Motorway would be a gift for the people of Sindh and other parts of Pakistan. The government plans to begin work during the current year.

The planned motorway projects are expected to improve travel between major cities. They could also support trade and transportation across the province.

The announcement was made alongside leaders of the All Pakistan Goods Transporters Alliance. Discussions also focused on facilities and issues faced by transport operators.

Abdul Aleem Khan said the government would provide dedicated space for truck stands. It also plans to establish rest areas for transporters.

The proposed rest areas would include necessary facilities for drivers and transport workers. The move aims to improve conditions for people involved in long-distance transportation.

The minister also addressed concerns about traffic challans. He said transporters would not face unfair traffic fines.

However, he stressed that transporters must follow legal requirements. He urged them to avoid carrying loads above the permitted limits.

Transporters will have to comply with approved axle-load restrictions. The minister said overloading must be avoided to protect roads and improve traffic safety.

The governmentโ€™s planned road projects could also help manage growing freight traffic. Better motorway links may provide faster routes for commercial vehicles.

The minister said genuine demands from transporters would be considered. However, he emphasized that he would only make commitments that could be implemented.

The Sukkur-Hyderabad section is expected to form an important part of the planned network. Work is scheduled to begin from Sukkur this year.

The proposed New Motorway between Karachi and Hyderabad could further improve connectivity. Its separate alignment may provide an alternative route between the two major cities.

The projects are expected to bring improvements in road infrastructure and transportation. They could also support economic activity by making movement of goods easier.
