Pakistan’s security forces have killed nine more militants during Operation Shaban in Balochistan, according to security officials. The latest action has increased the total number of militants killed since July 5 to 88.
The ongoing operation is being carried out jointly by the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, and Balochistan Police. Authorities said the mission was launched after the deadly attack on the Mangi Dam police post in the Shaban area of Quetta district.
Officials stated that coordinated air and ground operations are continuing across the region. Security forces are targeting suspected militant hideouts as part of efforts to restore security and prevent further attacks.
According to security officials, the latest operation raised the number of militants killed directly under Operation Shaban to 52. They explained that the overall total of 88 also includes militants eliminated in separate intelligence-based operations conducted after the initial attack.
The military campaign began following a major assault on the Mangi Dam police post. During the attack, nine police personnel, including two station house officers, lost their lives while performing their duties.
Authorities said 18 additional police officers were abducted by the attackers at gunpoint during the same incident. Their bodies were later recovered from the Zarghoon Gar mountain range, making the attack one of the deadliest incidents in the area in recent months.
Following the attack, security agencies launched a large-scale operation to trace those responsible. Officials said the mission includes both aerial surveillance and ground operations aimed at dismantling militant networks.
Security officials added that Operation Shaban is progressing according to its planned objectives. Forces continue to conduct coordinated assaults against suspected terrorist positions across the affected areas.
Authorities said the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, and Balochistan Police remain in close coordination throughout the operation. The joint effort is intended to prevent militants from escaping or regrouping while maintaining pressure on their hideouts.
Officials also said intelligence-based operations are continuing alongside the main military campaign. These targeted actions are based on information gathered during ongoing investigations and surveillance.
According to security officials, the primary objective of the operation is to eliminate those involved in the Mangi Dam police post attack and dismantle militant infrastructure operating in the region.
The government has repeatedly stated its commitment to strengthening security across Balochistan through coordinated law enforcement and military efforts. Officials believe sustained operations will help improve stability in areas affected by militant violence.

Security authorities have reiterated that Operation Shaban will continue until all militants linked to the attack have been neutralised and the area has been fully cleared. They said forces will maintain coordinated operations until the mission reaches its planned objectives and security conditions improve across the region.
